Spring is in the air…

Birds singing…

Daylight savings time begins…

Spring jackets…

Thunderstorms…

Kids playing in the yard…

It’s only a matter of time before it will be time to wash and put away those winter clothes and to start figuring out what what your children will need for this summer.   As your sorting through those bins, why not turn your children’s outgrown, gently worn items into cash for their changing needs?  We are currently registering consignors and getting the word out throughout Hendricks County and Indy’s Westside about the Spring/Summer Sale.  Remember, consignors and shop early; Friday from 6-9pm.   See you there!!

Just the Facts

Consignors are beginning to sign up daily and we are receiving not only a lot of interest, but many questions as well.  Many in our community are new to the concept of a consignment event, so we though we’d break it down for you by answering our most frequently asked questions:

  • How does this work exactly?  You (the consignor) tag your own items at your leisure and deliver them to us prior to the sale.  We do the advertising, set-up, work of the sale, and clean-up.  At the end of the sale, you may retrieve your unsold items if you choose.  Within a week you receive a check for 65% of your total sales. Consigners, along with their friends, also have the privilege of shopping at our pre-sale which will be held Friday, April 13 from 6-9pm.
  • What can I sell?  Most anything kid related as well as homeschool materials.  We will provide you a detailed list when you register as a consigner.  We are careful not to place anything outdated, worn, or stained in our sale.  We consider quality a priority, so we do screen items carefully.
  • Do I have to be present to sell my items?  Not at all.  There are opportunities to volunteer for two hour time slots before, during, or after the sale.  This is voluntary, but doing so increases your commission to 70%.
  • How do I sign up?  You can register at Flashconsign.com by choosing ‘Join The Sale’.  You will walk through the process of filling out your information.  Once we confirm your application, you will be assigned a consignment number and can begin tagging you items at any time.  Your registration fee of $7 will be deducted from your sale total after the event.
  • How do you make the tags? Is it hard?  Not at all.  All tags are created via computer through flashconsign.  You just click, print and pin.  We have provided a video to give you some tips for tagging and hanging your items.
  • Wouldn’t it be easier just to have a garage sale? It might be, but we can guarantee that you will make more per item through consignment.  Our shoppers are moms and grandmas who are ready to spend their money on quality items, whereas most shoppers at garage sales are looking for the least they can pay and may or may not be interested in what you have.  Once your prices are set, they remain firm. Also, you don’t have to set aside a whole weekend to hold your garage sale.  You can tag at your own convenience and we do all the work.

As the spring season quickly approaches, consider turning your no longer used kids items into cash by consigning with Shine Again Consignment Sale.

As always you may contact us as shineagainsale@gmail.com if you have any further questions.

Fall/Winter Sale 2011 Results

Many of you have asked about the results from the Fall/Winter Sale.  Thanks for your interest and support as we continue to grow our business.  We appreciate it.

Since this was our second sale and had some of the details ironed out, we spent much more time meeting the community and letting them know about Shine Again Consignment.   We were thrilled by the positive responses about the quality of our selection and the ease of shopping.  In fact, we did not see anyone come through the doors who left empty handed.  Even as we were sorting items for pick up, there were still shoppers finding exactly what they needed.
Here are some of the highlights:
  • We sold almost 700 items.
  • 2 consignors sold over $400.
  • 8 consignors sold around $100.
  • The total sales of clothing and children’s items doubled from the first event last Spring.
  • We instituted and electronic tagging and check out system, which served to to make for a smooth process all around.
  • We donated items to Hendricks Regional Health’s Young Moms Group’s Mommy StoreLife Centers, the Painter Family’s adoption fundraiser.   Our consignors are such a blessing!
We are already making plans for the Summer/Spring Sale.   We hope that you will feel welcome to join us as a shopper and a consignor.  As you finish washing and putting away this summer’s clothes, why not consider setting some aside now for the next sale and saving yourself some time later?  Also, Remember homeschool materials will be added again, making this sale a huge event!

Finally, we are interested in meeting groups or individuals in our community through the next few months who may benefit from Shine Again Consignment.  We realize that for many consignment is an entirely new idea.  If you have any contacts who may be interested in learning more, please send them our way!
